Today we take you to Proceno, a small village in the upper Lazio region.
Proceno is an Italian town of 600 inhabitants in the province of Viterbo, the northernmost part of Lazio. It is about 60 km from the capital, and is surrounded by natural wonders and unique countries.
Traveling along the Via Francigena, you reach the CASTELLO DI PROCENO, a popular hotel in a period residence located between Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio, in the center of Tuscia, a few kilometers from the Fonteverde thermal baths of San Casciano dei Bagni.
The widespread hotel Castello di Proceno is located in a medieval village, in a dominant position on Via Cassia, the main communication road for all commercial, cultural and religious traffic for over 2000 years.
Today the village of Proceno is in the heart of a crossroads of roads that connects it to the most important historical centers of central Italy.
The small village of Proceno welcomes you in fact in its truest light. The only bar in the village returns to be frequented only by men who go there to play cards, occasionally peering at the television which is always on. The streets are deserted, but you can smell the fireplaces and the heating that everyone has turned on. Here, in fact, wood is still the most used fuel.
In the winter months the village returns to being only of the few residents.
But in the hotel, all apartments and suites have a fireplace that will be regularly stocked with wood. In front of the large fireplace in the Enoteca restaurant you can roast the chestnuts accompanied with a good glass of excellent wine and take advantage, perhaps, of a cooking class in the ancient kitchen of the Castle where a lady from the village will teach you, among other things, how to make pasta by hand.

Oggi vi portiamo a Proceno, un piccolo borgo nell'alto lazio.
Proceno è un comune italiano di 600 abitanti della provincia di Viterbo, il più a nord del Lazio.
Dista dal capoluogo circa 60 km, ed è circondato da meraviglie naturali e paesi unici.
Viaggiando lungo la Via Francigena, si raggiunge il CASTELLO DI PROCENO, un albergo diffuso in dimora d’epoca situato tra Toscana, Umbria e Lazio, al centro della Tuscia, a pochi chilometri dalle Terme di Fonteverde di San Casciano dei Bagni. L’albergo diffuso Castello di Proceno si trova in un borgo medievale, in posizione dominante sulla Via Cassia, strada principale di comunicazione per tutti i traffici commerciali, culturali e religiosi per oltre 2000 anni. Oggi il borgo di Proceno è nel cuore di un incrocio di strade che lo collega ai più importanti centri storici dell’Italia centrale.
Il piccolo borgo di Proceno vi accoglie infatti sotto la sua luce più vera. L’unico bar del paese torna ad essere frequentato solo dagli uomini che vanno li a giocare a carte sbirciando ogni tanto la televisione che è sempre accesa. Le strade sono deserte, ma si può sentire l’odore dei camini e dei riscaldamenti che tutti hanno accesi. Qui, infatti, la legna è ancora il combustibile più usato. Nei mesi invernali il borgo torna ad essere solo dei pochi residenti.
Ma nell'hotel, tutti gli appartamenti e le suites hanno un camino che vi sarà regolarmente rifornito di legna Davanti al grande camino del ristorante Enoteca potrete arrostire le castagne accompagnandole con un buon bicchiere di ottimo vino ed approfittare, magari, di un corso di cucina nell’antica cucina del Castello dove una signora del villaggio vi insegnerà , fra l’altro, a fare la pasta a mano.
Siamo personalmente stati al Castello e non possiamo che confermare tutto questo che avete appena letto.
Proceno è un meraviglioso borgo, con un meraviglioso castello e con dei meravigliosi cittadini pronti ad accogliervi tra loro.
