Santana? Carlos Santana? Yes he is. The story we tell you today is that of Giovanni and his passion for music. But first let's talk about the context, the place where we are.
Deruta is an Italian municipality in the province of Perugia, known for the production of artistic ceramics. Located on a hill 15 kilometers from Perugia and 150 from Rome, it is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. In Deruta we recommend entering from Porta di S.Michele Arcangelo to see the remains of ancient kilns used for the production of ceramics, the former church of San Michele Arcangelo built in 1163, and decorated with tiles; the Palazzo Comunale, inside which there are archaeological remains from the Roman, medieval and Renaissance periods; the Pinacoteca, which contains many paintings from the church of San Francesco, from that of Sant'Antonio Abate, from the former hospital of San Giacomo and from the church of the Defunti di Ripabianca; the Church of San Francesco, built in Gothic style; the former church of Sant'Antonio where you can admire 15th-16th century frescoes by Bartolomeo and Giovan Battista Caporali.

The art of ceramics is linked to the history of the city itself, in fact the first works were commissioned to local artists in the Middle Ages and are dated XIII century, even if the city reached the peak of production in the early 1500s.
To then touch all the beauty and art of the famous Deruta ceramics, take advantage of a visit to the artisan workshops located in the town. But it is at this point that we talk about Giovanni.
Giovanni is a boy, a craftsman of high level, who produces ceramic objects in Deruta, but above all ceramic guitars. It seems incredible, but thanks to a refined and careful system, Giovanni manages to create a perfectly resonant body, on which to insert all the individual non-ceramic pieces of the guitar: pick up, handle (always made by him) and so on. The result is exceptional, and the photos do not do justice to the masterpieces that Giovanni has made.

He is so good that Carlos Santana himself, the world famous guitarist, wanted to play live with his guitar, as you can see from the photos.

Santana? Carlos Santana? Si lo è. La storia che ti raccontiamo oggi è quella di Giovanni e la sua passione per la musica. Ma prima parliamo del contesto, del luogo in cui ci troviamo. Deruta è un comune italiano nella provincia di Perugia, noto per la produzione di ceramiche artistiche. Situato su una collina a 15 chilometri da Perugia e 150 da Roma, è uno dei borghi più belli d'Italia. A Deruta consigliamo di entrare dalla Porta di S. Michele Arcangelo per vedere i resti delle antiche fornaci utilizzate per la produzione della ceramica, l'ex chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo costruita nel 1163 e decorata con piastrelle; il Palazzo Comunale, al cui interno si trovano resti archeologici di epoca romana, medievale e rinascimentale; la Pinacoteca, che conserva molti dipinti provenienti dalla chiesa di San Francesco, da quella di Sant'Antonio Abate, dall'ex ospedale di San Giacomo e dalla chiesa dei Defunti di Ripabianca; la Chiesa di San Francesco, costruita in stile gotico; l'ex chiesa di Sant'Antonio dove si possono ammirare affreschi del XV-XVI secolo di Bartolomeo e Giovan Battista Caporali. Consigliamo una visita all'interessante Museo della Ceramica, che contiene preziose e particolari maioliche: non puoi lasciare Deruta senza una full immersion in questo mondo colorato. L'arte della ceramica è legata alla storia della città stessa, infatti le prime opere furono commissionate ad artisti locali nel Medioevo e risalgono al XIII secolo, anche se la città raggiunse il culmine della produzione nei primi anni del Cinquecento. Per poi toccare tutta la bellezza e l'arte delle famose ceramiche di Deruta, approfitta di una visita alle botteghe artigiane situate in città . Ma è a questo punto che parliamo di Giovanni.
Giovanni è un ragazzo, un artigiano di alto livello, che a Deruta produce oggetti in ceramica, ma sopratutto chitarre in ceramica.
Sembra incredibile, ma tramite un raffinato ed attento sistema, Giovanni riesce a creare un body perfettamente risonante, su cui poi inserire tutti i singoli pezzi non ceramici della chitarra: pick up, manico (sempre da lui realizzato) e quant'altro.
Il risultato è eccezionale, e le foto non rendono giustizia ai capolavori che Giovanni ha realizzato.
