Today we propose a food and wine itinerary, divided into stages very close and that do not require excessive physical efforts, but want to get drunk a little.
The route will start from Buonconvento, then Montalcino, Pienza and finally Montepulciano.
There are numerous other small villages to visit in the passage, but as a matter of space we will have to mention only the most famous, those from which the most famous Italian wines are named, such as Brunello di Montalcino or the noble wine of Montepulciano.
It is important to say that we are in the Val d'Orcia, one of the most beautiful landscapes in Italy!
Buonconvento
Buonconvento has been declared one of the most beautiful towns in Italy: the center of this small and picturesque village deserves a visit in the form of a pleasant walk where you will find the typical red brick architecture and several picturesque corners to take pictures. Among these, the Palazzo Comunale, with its beautiful brick front, and the imposing Palazzo Taja, built entirely of bricks in the second half of the eighteenth century by a noble family. On the south side the façade is animated by a large balcony with a wrought iron railing and a sundial above it.
Montalcino
The next town to visit is Montalcino. Once you reach the summit on which Montalcino rises, a real show opens up before your eyes: a continuous succession of sinuous hills dotted here and there with yellow and red flowers, ancient oaks, picturesque olive trees, and streets that lapping hills from Impressionist paintings. The historic center is dominated by the mighty fortress, a fortress built in 1361 as marking the passage of the city under the dominion of Siena. The fortress has remained virtually intact since the Middle Ages and often becomes the ideal setting for festivals, events, and concerts, such as the famous Jazz & Wine Festival, held in July each year, where the pleasure of listening to jazz music is perfectly combined. Italian and international, with that of good drinking!
Pienza
Pienza is a small village in southern Tuscany, in the famous Val d'Orcia, a must visit. It is located about 20 km east of Montalcino and a few km west of Montepulciano in the beautiful region of the Val d'Orcia south of Siena, among soft and poetic hills and fabulous views. Pienza enjoys a truly strategic position perched on the top of a hill, overlooking the entire Orcia valley with a breathtaking view.
This charming village is widely known as the "ideal" city of the Renaissance, created by the great humanist Enea Silvio Piccolomini, who later became Pope Pius II. Piccolomini had the economic possibilities and influence to be able to transform his humble native village, Corsignano, into what he believed should be a utopian city, which should have embodied the principles and philosophy of the classical age and of the great Italian Renaissance.
The project was realized by the architect Bernardo called Rossellino, under the guidance of the great humanist Leon Battista Alberti. In just 3 years a complex of beautiful and harmonious buildings was built: the Cathedral, the papal residence or Palazzo Piccolomini, the Municipality, and the charming central square.
We slept at Apparita apartment. Claudio, the host, is really nice, and the rooms are comfortable and with an handmade breakfast!
It's cheap, clean and in the center of Pienza, near the parking. Unforgettable!

Montepulciano
And here we are in Montepulciano, a wonderful town, populated by really friendly and friendly people. The visit starts from the Rocca, and then descends into the main square, where the magnificent town hall is located. Continue for the course until you reach a fundamental first step; urban bikery. Urban bikery is a wonderful idea: visit the neighboring areas via an electric bicycle. We talked about it a few days ago, and you can find more info in the "experience" section of our site!
Continue a few meters and you will find another wonderful step: the magnanet library! Here the owner will welcome you in a forgotten world, made of really old books!
Go down the course again, then go back up to the Contucci winery, which has been producing the famous Nobile di Montepulciano wine for a thousand years.

Oggi vi proponiamo un percorso enogastronomico, diviso in tappe molto vicine e che non richiedo eccessivi sforzi fisici, ma voglia di ubriacarsi un pò.
Il percorso partirà da Buonconvento, poi Montalcino, Pienza e infine Montepulciano.
Ci sono numerosi altri piccoli borghi da visitare nel passaggio, ma per una questione di spazio dovremo citare solo i più famosi, quelli da cui prendono il nome i più famosi vini d'italia, come il Brunello di Montalcino o il vino nobile di Montepulciano.
E' importante dire che ci troviamo nella Val d'Orcia, uno dei paesaggi più belli d'Italia!
Buonconvento è stato dichiarato uno dei borghi più belli d'Italia: il centro di questo piccolo e pittoresco borgo merita una visita in forma di una piacevola passeggiata dove troverete la tipica architettura in mattoni rossi e diversi angoli pittoreschi per fare delle foto. Tra questi, il Palazzo Comunale, con il suo bel fronte in mattoni, e l'imponente Palazzo Taja, costruito interamente in mattoni nella seconda metà del Settecento da una famiglia nobile. Sul lato sud la facciata è animata da un ampio balcone con una ringhiera in ferro battuto e una meridiana sopra di questo.
La successiva cittadina da visitare è Montalcino. Una volta raggiunta la cima su cui si erge Montalcino, un vero e proprio spettacolo si apre davanti agli occhi: un continuo susseguirsi di sinuose colline punteggiate qua e là da fiori gialli e rossi, antiche querce, pittoreschi alberi d'olivo, e strade che lambiscono colline da quadri impressionisti.
Il centro storico è dominato dalla possente Rocca, fortezza costruita nel 1361 come segnare il passaggio della città sotto il dominio di Siena.
La fortezza è rimasta praticamente intatta sin dal Medioevo e spesso diventa lo scenario ideale per festival, eventi, e concerti, come il famoso Jazz & Wine Festival, che si tiene a Luglio ogni anno, dove si combinano perfettamente il piacere di ascoltare musica jazz sia italiana che internazionale, con quello del buon bere!
Pienza è un piccolo borgo nel sud della Toscana, nella famosa Val d'Orcia, assolutamente da visitare. Si trova a circa 20 km a est di Montalcino e qualche km ad ovest di Montepulciano nella bellissima regione della Val d'Orcia a sud di Siena, tra soffici e poetiche colline e favolosi panorami. Pienza gode di una posizione davvero strategica arroccata sulla cima ad un colle, che domina tutta la valle dell'Orcia con una vista mozzafiato.
Questo incantevole borgo è ampiamente conosciuto come la città "ideale" del Rinascimento, creazione del grande umanista Enea Silvio Piccolomini, diventato poi Papa Pio II. Piccolomini aveva le possibilità economiche e l'influenza per poter trasformare il suo umile villaggio natio, Corsignano, in quella che riteneva dovesse essere una città utopica, che avrebbe dovuto incarnare i principi e la filosofia dell'età classica e del grande Rinascimento italiano.
Il progetto venne realizzato dall'architetto Bernardo detto il Rossellino, sotto la guida del grande umanista Leon Battista Alberti. In soli 3 anni venne realizzato un complesso di bellissimi ed armoniosi palazzi: la Cattedrale, la residenza papale o Palazzo Piccolomini, il Comune, e l'incantevole piazza centrale.
Ed eccoci a Montepulciano, una cittadina meravigliosa, popolata da persone davvero cordiali ed amichevoli.
Si parte la visita dalla Rocca, per poi scendere nella piazza principale, dove è presente il magnifico palazzo comunale.
Si prosegue per il corso fino ad arrivare ad un primo step fondamentale; urban bikery.
Urban bikery è una idea meravigliosa: visitare le zone limitrofe tramite una bicicletta elettrica. Ne abbiamo parlato già qualche giorno fa, e potete trovare maggiori info nella sezione "experience" del nostro sito!
Proseguite qualche metro e troverete un altro step meraviglioso: la libreria magnanet! Qui il proprietario vi accoglierà in un mondo dimenticato, fatto di libri davvero antichi!
Scendete ancora per il corso, poi risalite nuovamente fino alla Cantina Contucci, che da mille anni produce il famoso vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
