La Scarzuola, the utopian city

Aggiornamento: 18 mag 2020

Montegabbione (TR) , Umbria

The name "Scarzuola" is a sort of nickname, derived from the name of the grass with which San Francesco built a hut where today stands the church of Scarzuola, built by Nerio di Bulgaruccio and arrived century by century to the architect Buzzi, and then to his current heir, Marco Solari.

The place was designed by the architect to seek a liberation of the soul from the constraints that society imposes on us. The story is very fascinating, but rather complex and long.

In short, the place is nothing but a physical path that affects the soul.

The man who decides to do this path will have to dig inside, face his demons and then be able to return to reality.

La Scarzuola is based on numerous books, on the golden section, and on numerous other sacred numbers and beliefs that we can find over the centuries ranging from 1500 onwards.

All the works made in this dwelling are not proportionate, but deliberately out of proportion, to create a journey into the oneiric.

Scarzuola is a place out of time and space, which gives its explorer the chance to discover a new world: himself.
